UFC Fight Night: Cejudo vs. Dillashaw: Who Ya Got???

UFC Fight Night: Cejudo vs. Dillashaw: It’s finally here folks! On January 19th, Henry Cejudo will defend the UFC flyweight championship against the UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw at the Barclays center in Brooklyn, New York. And boy oh boy what a doozie of a fight this is! For those of you who don’t know what an absolute banger of a matchup this is, the UFC has posted the two fighters’ electrifying previous performances on YouTube (which I have linked down below.) Henry Cejudo shocked the world when he defeated Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson in a wire-thin split decision. Mighty Mouse, who was undefeated as a UFC flyweight and was considered the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world, had been looking unstoppable leading up to his fight with Cejudo (who was swiftly beaten by Johnson the first time they met.) However, this time around Cejudo was able to use his superior wrestling to subdue Johnson and eventually win on points.

And in the other corner? TJ Dillashaw. A man who has unfortunately earned the title of being a “heel” after leaving Team Alpha Male and being called out on the Ultimate Fighter by none other than Conor Mcgregor (whose nickname for TJ, “The Snake”, has stuck to this day.) But don’t let these antics fool you! TJ Dillashaw is one of the most elite fighters in the entire UFC. Ranked as the #5 pound for pound fighter in the world, Dillashaw utilizes constant movement, technical striking and explosive wrestling to dominate the competition. TJ’s last fight against former teammate Cody Garbrandt  (whom TJ beat via TKO their first time fighting) established Dillashaw as one of the most elite strikers in the UFC and put a decisive close to his heated rivalry with Garbrandt. Although Cody is arguably faster than TJ and has more knockout power, during their furious exchanges TJ was able to land shots more accurately than Garbrandt and finished him in just minutes in the very first round. Once again, the wisdom of Conor Mcgregor, who once famously said that “precision beats power and timing beats speed,” was personified in this dominate performance by TJ Dillashaw.

I know the little guys don’t always get the same love from UFC fans, but you won’t want to miss this! This is the classic tale of the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object and a superfight for the ages! UFC Fight Night: Cejudo vs. Dillashaw will play on ESPN+, Saturday, January 17, 2019, at 7pm Pacific Time. If you plan on watching this fight, let me know “who ya got?!” On paper, my money would be on TJ, but seeing how the fight is at flyweight division, which is a weight level more comfortable for Cejudo, the match might come down to how well TJ can handle the weight cut. Plus Henry Cejudo has already proved that anything is impossible by defeating Might Mouse, so who knows what will happen? The outcome might surprise us all!
